Thankfully my roommate has DVR which means I have DVR so I can tape the last few Oprah Episodes. I'm officially addicted to Oprah. I watched the Freedom Riders Episode, The Julia Roberts/Tom Hanks Episode and the Oprah surprise give away episode which included a fabulous Lady Gaga piano playing performance! I appreciate and respect performers/singers that sound like they do on their cd's live. Or that are good live-NO AUTOTUNE! I remember seeing Lady Gaga at 2007 Lollapalooza. I was wandering around to stages seeing what was interesting and this flashy dressed gal was spinning records on stage. So I thought I'd check it out. Her back up scantily dressed dancers started moving then she came center stage and stripped to her undies and bra. I'm thinking...WTF? I look like a pervy lesbian watching this alone. Great way to get a crowd over to your stage, might I add. Then she started singing. This girl could SING! Smart cookie.
Back to my Oprah obsession. No matter what you think of her the woman has been on TV 25 years and has changed our culture. She's made me cry many episodes. It's just something that was part of our daily routine. Come home from school and watch Oprah with mom! Then maybe Kids Incorporated and Mickey Mouse Club!
We will miss you big O! But you have your OWN (network) you won't be gone forever.
*side note- I love when people point. This Lady G pointing to Oprah and changes the lyrics about her then POINTS. I also love Tom Hanks' Jimmy Dugan in A League of Their Own pointing after the team is praying in church for doubles and triples. He chirps "None of this helps" then makes the sign of the cross and POINTS to Jesus or whoever!
